Zürich public transportation is considered one of the best mobility system in the world. Trams have been a consistent part of Zürich's streetscape since the 1880s, when the first horse tram ran. In 2001, the operator VBZ (Verkehrs Betriebe Zürich) took delivery of the brand-new ‘First low-floor tram,’ well known as the ‘Cobra’. Cobra was the first tram full low-floor of the transportation history in Zürich, introducing a significant upgrade in terms of efficiency, comfort and performances.
The design approach represents the natural evolution of the classic Zürich trams, saving exterior corporate colours, and a consolidated historic, pure image. The interior follows the same design philosophy playing with minimalism, human factors and ‘visual comfort’ properly balanced by natural materials as the seats in wood.
